No matter how securely you think you’ve destroyed your important documents, someone with exceptional perseverance may be able to recover all your data.
Well, while it’s not really possible to ensure 100% that information is irrecoverable, you can make the job very difficult for intruders. One of the ways and tools to do so with are shredders.
And if you just so happen to be looking for the most secure shredder, we may have something of interest to you!
Here are the 5 Most Secure Shredders available on Amazon.com
Bonsaii EverShred Pro 4S16 Micro-Cut Shredder
For more high-volume and secure shredding, consider the Bonsaii EverShred Pro 4516 shredder.
With its up to 60 minutes of continuous runtime and just a 10-minute cooldown, this unit is clearly a far better option if you tend to have plenty of documents to destroy. Not only that, but with its P-5 security level and small cutting size of 5/64 x 25/64 inches, it’s a more suitable choice if you want security.
Just like the Bonsaii C-234A shredder, this guy can shred paper, credit cards, clips, and staples. Aside from that, it can shred CD/DVDs. If disks are still used in your office, then this machine’s capacity to shred them should be useful for you.
With its 4.2-gallon waste tank, this shredder can take more waste without you having to empty the wastebasket as well. Given the working capacity of this unit, the basket will likely get full quicker, but the large transparent window should allow you to quickly determine whether it’s time for emptying.
Notably, the EverShred Pro 4516 shredder has a separate 0.37-gallon tank for media other than paper. Not that this is that big of a benefit, but if you for some reason need to separate paper waste from other kinds of waste, then this feature will be useful for you.
Just like the C-234A shredder, this guy has overheating and overloading protection. In addition, with its auto start/stop and auto reverse, it allows for more convenient jam elimination.
Finally, if you want a quieter shredder, then this unit may be the one – with its sound level of 58 dB, it’s not particularly quiet, but given that cheaper units often produce close to 70 dB of sound, 58 dB is rather quiet.
· Great for high-volume use.
· P-5 security level.
· 60-minute runtime.
· Shreds paper, credit cards, clips, staples, and CD/DVDs.
· Fairly quiet.
· Has auto reverse for jam-free operation.
· A little pricey.
Aurora AM870MA 8-Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder
Feature-wise, the Aurora AM870 shredder is fairly similar to the Bonsaii C-234A shredder. But at a cheaper price, it’s a little more limited in some areas.
In particular, while the continuous runtime of 5 minutes is very close to the 4 minutes of the C-234A, this unit seems to be more prone to overheating. It does have overheating protection, but it definitely isn’t for high-volume use.
With that said, the AM870MA shredder can take up to 8 sheets of paper at a time, and it also has a larger 3.9-gallon wastebasket.
In terms of security, this shredder is identical to the C-234A unit – it again has a P-4 security level and shreds documents into 5/32 x 15/32-inch pieces. It can also shred credit cards, as well as paper clips and staples.
Jam management is similar here is as well – AM870 has auto start and manual reverse just like C-234A does. The same goes for size and weight – both units weight around 10 pounds and are easy to move around.
In the end, if you are looking for a cheap shredder for low-volume jobs, this one may be the best option for you.
· Great for low-volume use.
· Very inexpensive.
· Takes up to 8 sheets simultaneously
· P-4 security level.
· Shreds paper, credit cards, clips, and staples.
· Compact and light.
· Overheats fast.
Fellowes 62MC 10-Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder
If you want a little more working capacity than in the cheap Bonsaii and Aurora shredders, then the Fellowes 62MC shredder is a good option to consider.
With its 7 minutes of runtime and 60 minutes of cooldown, this thing still isn’t too suitable for high-volume use. However, it has a few things that make it more high-capacity than the Bonsaii C-234A or Aurora AM870 shredders.
The 62MC shredder can take 10 pieces of paper at a time, as well as has a fairly large waste bin sized at 5 gallons. Not only that, while it’s again rated P-4, it is designed to shred documents into smaller 7/64 x 25/64 pieces. This is the biggest benefit of this machine over the C-234A and AM-870 shredders.
Another nice feature in this shredder is the Safety Lock feature. This feature allows you to disable the shredder when it’s not in use. As claimed by Fellowes, Safety Lock allows for increased pet and child safety.
In terms of convenience, this shredder is decent as well. At 60 dB, it is rather quiet, and also has manual reverse for jam elimination along with an overheating LED indicator.
Overall, this unit seems like a nice option for relatively often use. It still isn’t a high-volume unit, but it seems to be more dependable than cheap shredders.
· P-4 security level with small micro-cuts.
· Decent working capacity.
· Takes up to 10 sheets of paper at a time.
· Large 5-gallon waste bin.
· Shreds paper, credit cards, and staples.
· Fairly quiet operation.
· Fairly pricey for its capabilities.
ideal. 2445 Super Micro-Cut Shredder
Finally, we have this absolute unit of a shredder that will likely be a great choice for high-volume use. Not only that, but with its P-7 security rating and shred size of just 1/32 x 3/16 inches, it’s a good option if you need maximum security.
Ideal. doesn’t specify the exact runtime of this thing, but it’s claimed to be continuous with “minimal downtime”. Among the things that we know for a fact is the speed of this shredder – it can cut up to 107 paper sheets per minute and take up to 5-7 sheets at a time.
Thanks to its 9-gallon tank, you shouldn’t have to empty this shredder very often as well. And when the time for emptying comes, you will be notified by the emptying indicator at the top of the unit.
Manual reverse, auto reverse & stop when overfed, and auto stop when full will allow you to prevent and tackle jams.
Remarkably, the 2445 shredder is very quiet, producing just 55 dB of sound. It’s not terribly quiet, but compared to other units on the list, it should make a big difference in noise level.
One thing to keep in mind with this shredder is that it is only designed for paper. Besides, the price of the 2445 shredder will repel many people. But if you do need a highly secure unit, then this may be that most secure shredder for your needs.
· Excellent for high-volume jobs.
· P-7 security level.
· Large 9-gallon waste bin.
· 30-minute auto shutoff.

Bonsaii C-234A 6-Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder
Up first on our review is a fairly inexpensive and compact shredder by Bonsaii. Even though the C-234A shredder is one of the cheaper models on the list, it’s a fairly capable one.
Rated at security level P-4, this shredder is designed to shred paper into 5/32 by 15/32-inch pieces. Aside from paper, it can also shred credit cards, staples, and clips.
In terms of shredding capacity, the C-234A shredder is decent – it takes up to 6 sheets of paper at a time and runs for up to 4 minutes. After the 4 minutes have elapsed, this unit goes into a 40-minute cooldown, which clearly shows that this shredder is a better option for low-volume use.
The waste capacity of this paper shredder is solid as well – given the runtime of this shredder, it should take a long time for you to fill the 3.5-gallon wastebasket. You also have a transparent window on the side that somewhat allows you to know when it’s emptying time.
What you may particularly like in this machine is that it’s light (about 10 pounds) and compact. This is a consequence of its relatively low shredding capacity.
Bonsaii has also equipped the C-234A paper shredder with a few safety features – most importantly, overloading and overheating protection. This thing also has auto start/stop and manual reverse to deal with jams.
In the end, if you need a decent unit that will allow for occasional low-volume document shredding, the C-234A shredder might be a good option.
· Not too expensive.
· Nice option for low-volume use.
· P-4 security level.
