I use my Windows XP system for a limited number of applications. A couple of
weeks ago, it started bogging down.. a lot. Now when I try to start up my
UPS Worldship, it says that the SQL Server is not running. I tried to
restore to an earlier date, but that didn't fix it. Someone passing by said
to reset the computer to the original condition the day I received it, but I
don't know how to do that either. Any data and software I need is backed up
separately, so resetting the computer would be fine. Any suggestions on
either resetting the computer or starting the SQL Server, or...?

You should repost this to the SQL newsgroup

Meanwhile go to Start\Run\services.msc and make sure that the SQL is set to
Manual
and not to disabled or Automatic
