If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
I wanted to assign a password to prevent other users of this computer from
viewing my personal files and folders.

That is all pretty much an automatic side effect if you use Windows as
intended. Each person should have a limited (non-admin) account that
they each exclusively use, and they should all have passwords.
Then, if you select to make your account's My Documents private only
your account will have access to what you store there.

To be of more help you need to at least say what OS you use.
