If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
I can not log on to my desk top in normal mode, I can not get pass the xp
black screen. It just keeps spooling. I can log on in safe mode only.I tried
to retore back to three days prior, it did not work. can you help

This means that something is running in Regular Mode that is causing a
problem. I can't guess what it is because we really don't have any
information about your computer. What changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't? This is the first question to ask in
troubleshooting.

I would start with the normal troubleshooting for viruses and malware:

If the machine is clean, then do clean-boot troubleshooting:

and How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

Also look at the Event Viewer (if you have Win2k/XP) to see if there are
clues: Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]
