If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
I'm trying to upgrade to AVG 8.0 from 7.5 but it keeps failing with an error
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Windows: creating registry key....
Error 0x80070005
has anyone had this problem and what can I do about it.

If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
This is because of a viruis, if you remove the viruis it will let you
reinstall ok. maybe try another AV to remove it(this viruis i had blocks
norton,nod323,avg and a few others but not combofix) so maybe easyer to
reinstall windows with xp sp 3 or vista sp1 and try again!

Contact AVG.

My suggestion is to remove AVG 7.5 (Add or Remove Programs control panel)
then download and install AVG 8...

Download/install the latest version using the following
link and command line...

http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

Command line to install without LinkScanner (also do a custom install and do
not install the Email Scanner(Currently)):

avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf
/REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch

(that's all one line... and yes it is printed as needed - repeats and all.)
