I have 3 computers and they are wireless. I configured my router and set
security keys etc. assisted by my ISP (Verizon). When I go to see all
wireless networks my network has a security lock icon so I believe it is a
good thing. My question is that one of the computers is able to connect to
other networks even though my router is disconnected and using deferent IP
address. Am I doing something wrong?

Probably not. Guess the computer in question connects to a open wireless
network nearby?

Wait... You are saying that your laptop can connect to other wireless router
than your own and you think that is wrong?

That just means whose ever router you are then connecting to either has no
security for a reason (bookstore? coffee-house? hotel?) OR that they are
doing something wrong... Not you. As long as you have to enter a
password/key to get on your router - that is a good thing (even if you only
have to set it up once.) Not un-hackable - but better than "here - use my
wireless internet!"
