I just recently got the Verizon/AOL Highspeed DSL service. Had disabled my
windows firewall before installing. But have noticed upon doing the AOL
Autosign in, it doesn't detect firewall, I go to control panel, windows
firewall, and it is turned on. I x out of AOL, sign on again, and there it
detected the firewall. I have contacted AOL, but their only solution,
reinstall AOL, which I did, then I didn't have the Version, so I downloaded
that, and it still, doesn't detect windows firewall if I do auto AOL dial up.
If a manually sign in, it detects it. Was just curious as to if it has
something to do with the windows firewall part. Thanks

Manually configure the firewall, which is a huge asset to Windows XP SP2.

If no joy, call AOL *again* or uninstall it and get something that (is)
compatible.

AOL installs its own connection settings that override the ones that come
with Windows XP. America Online's connection settings don't include a way to
turn on Windows XP's built-in firewall!
