This is actually a note for the Windows Defender development team.

Currently I have advised our power users to use Microsoft Antispyware - Beta
1 and it seems to work a treat. I have today downloaded Beta 2 (named
Defender) on to my laptop and noticed an issue that obviously will need
addressing for the 'at work' business community.

We run with 'Windows Updates/Microsoft Updates' disabled by GPO and push
'approved updates' out via SMS periodically.

After installing Defender the system informed me that it was unable to
update the definitions and gave a 0x8..... code (I didn't write it down
sorry!).

I then noticed that in the read-me it indicated that it uses Windows Update
to get the signitures. I poked the registry (to remove the GPO block) and
defender updated successfully. (I then reset the block - to keep the laptop
in sync with the companies policy).

I hope this finds it way to the correct team and look forward to Defender
fully operational in a business environment.

Regards,
David Gregg.
