Something is eating up space on HD (C:\) on my daughters Documents and
Settings. I all of a sudden am running out of HD space and have narrowed it
down to my daughter. I clear things off of the HD and it keeps building back
up. Everyone else in family has 1GB or less associated with the Documents and
Settings, but hers grows to 9GB and has done so in the last few weeks. I
cannot find any folders or files that are that size. Have done virus search
and it is clear. Performed the new on-line malicious software search and
cleared off Bearshare. This did not help. Any suggestions? Security issue?
Help!!!!

Are you sure you removed ALL of Bearshare, including the OnFlow and Save Now
spyware/adware components it installs?

Since your daughter is doing file-swapping with BearShare - one of the
prime ways malware gets into the system - it is unlikely that your
computer is clean.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
