I would limit their ability to do this type of sharing through, if nothing
else - firewall policies (assuming your clients are WIndows XP and above)
and/or just local rights.
I know that doesn't go far in "building trust", but if you present it in the
"we must be more secure" light - and you are responsive to their needs
during the security "upgrades" (when they have to move all their stuff to
your server) and make the changes that would fall under "safe and secure"
that you can for them - then you will gain the trust fairly quickly as well.
Especially if you point out your backup procedures and the likes for the
servers where their workstations do not have this.
