I have installed both XPSP2 and IE7 but I'm not sure about the security
settings for ActiveX controls and JavaScript. How can I find out the proper
settings for this? Thank you.

I'm not sure exactly what your question is. The proper settings are
essentially the defaults. Did you want to know what those are? You can revert
to them by clicking the "Reset all zones to default level" button.

Can you clarify your question a little?

You may review the settings by selecting Internet Options from the
Tools dropmenu in IE, navigating to the Security tab, highlighting
the Internet zone (assuming that zone, used for all sites not part of
any other zone), and then clicking on Custom level
Although not specifically the settings you mentioned, there are also
some settings you may want to review on the Advanced tab
