My icons are slow to display, my generally fast up to date, newer computer is
running too slow. I just know I've got a virus somewhere but McAfee and Stop
Sign are not finding anything and showing clean. Any suggestions?

Go through these malware removal steps systematically:

After you know the computer is clean, do some housekeeping:

Further to Malke's most excellent recommendations, you should consider
uninstalling
the "Stop Sign" application.
Please see notes:

If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options Broncos Mom: I've always been annoyed by the barrage of ads "Stop Sign"
plays on T.V. making it sound like such a great program... Since I've
always been suspicious of any anti-spyware etc program, it's always a good
idea to read reviews of these so called programs before you install, before
you end up with more problems. There's good ones (free) out there, but you
have to check them 'all' out first. Glad siljanline caught it for you, and
have wondered why more people don't warn the unsuspecting in the various
Newsgroups about this one in particular, but I'm also to blame since this is
the first time I've mentioned it, when I've been aware of it for quite some
time... Malke always has good info as well.
Good Luck.

McAfee and StopSign are both complete wastes of money. Suggest you use a
real antivirus program.
