I installed #4 "Instant Lock" from
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Authors/M_T_G__Security_.html
Interestingly, the version 2.5.8 listing from 14-May-2006 is listed as
$34.95 shareware while the version 3.0 listing from 5-Oct-2006 is listed as
freeware.
When I installed the 3.0.3 version, it didn't ask where I wanted to install
it and I immediately got the warning:
The program GrpConv has registered the executable
grpconv.exe -o to run at system startup.
Then it said "Welcome to the installer for Instant Lock Lite" which said
this was Shareware! If I agreed to that, it then asked where it wanted
instantlocklite to be installed. A warning popped up at the end saying "If
you can't start the application, please disable "Windows Data Execution
Prevention".
What does it mean to disable Windows data execution protection?
Is that a good thing or a bad thing to do to Windows XP?
