I am aiming to do a clean install to tidy up the overall installation which
was originally XP home which I updated to XP Professional.

has to reinstalled . once you reinstall the software then it would prompt you to
reactivate it . The system would think the reactivation as second time
activation so please be careful while reactivating it and choose telephone
option as your connection methood .

whenever you want to reactivate after reinstallation call the number that will
be on your activation wizard and talk to the representative . your software will
be activated
