If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
How would I password protect/hide the contents of a desktop folder on a
machine running Windows XP?

You would need to zip it and apply a password or use third-party
software. Google for "password protect folders".

Has anybody here ever tried Microsoft's "Private Folders 1.0" (hastily
withdrawn after 1 week)? I've got the installation file (MSPF10ENU.msi),
but I don't fancy installing it.

There's GOT to be a reason for such an early withdrawal, and it can't be
a good one.

Why take chances!
