Title says it - any advice on which products are good? A free one would be
ideal if it works reasonably well.

Basic requirements are to lock-down which websites three children can visit.
or at least to reduce the chances of them accidentally landing on disturbing
porn material.

Must work with Firefox.

(or Opera/NS/Mozilla would be OK, but not IE for security reasons)

Something here should do:

Child Safe Internet:

The most commonly recommended and enjoyed by folks (from me) is iProtectYou

iProtectYou:

No software is 100% perfect and, this isn't a discussion on parenting but
technology so I'll simply leave it as; No software is better then actually
observing their actions. Keeping the PCs only in a main room where there are
generally people coming and going is also a good substitute for monitoring
all the time which, frankly, I also know is impossible for most people. Like
security to protect from the outside, a layered defense to keep children
safe and to control their access is likely the best solution.
