If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Do you think it's likely Windows OneCare (Beta!) slows up general everyday
tasks on computer such as opening My Documents and "Saving File as"
procedures? Whereas my internet onnection seems as normal since installing
OneCare I have noticed a definite slowness to many routine applications and
wonder if anyone else is experiencing this. I might return to using an
alternative 'lighter' antivirus software. Any recommendations of best
available appreciated.

Kaspersky and NOD32. NOD32 is lighter on resources.

That's the common problem of such products. I remember Kaspersky in
2002-2003 - it was really impossible to use,- all system hung, and was
working slowly.

Pay attention to installed software - do you have another AV's
installed/running ?

If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
how many firewalls/active virus scanners and pest scanners do you have, if
you have more than one of each that could be the cause of your slowness
rather than WOC(having two resident virus scanners can kill system
performance".
