I purchased a computer from my previous work, and am unable to download MANY
things because I do not have administrator privileges. How can I fix this to
where the PC is a worthwhile investment and I can have what I would like on
the PC.

Please help!

Thank you!

With a used computer, best practice is to do a clean install of the
operating system. You should have received a cd of the operating system
(XP), possibly a drivers cd, and installation cd's for any programs that
are still on the machine (MS Office, etc.). Since your computer was
probably part of a domain, a clean install will be the easiest way to
deal with removing all the domain restrictions.

Wipe the hard drive and start fresh.
Install Windows XP.
Install your applications.
Set it up the way you like it.
Keep it well maintained and backed up and you're done.
