If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options There is a lot of overhead in IM, and though I no longer use it,
I don't think that's out of line. Over how long a time period
did you measure?
IM's are constantly checking things and keeping track of things
both on your machine and online, to keep you advised of who's
online, etc etc etc.. IIRC, you can turn on a log of IM's
activities - check the Options. Not sure it was MS's or not
though.
