Revently i have been keeping track of the IO Read Bytes from the HD. I have
discovered that MSn messenger, after explorer preocess, is the 2nd one in the
list with the highest Read Bytes from the Hard Disk. Frequently, this exceeds
1000MB. Do you know what MSM Messeneg reads off the HD, ad 1GB sounds abit
too much for a chat program. Also, I do not have Emoticons installed, and did
not send Files to other MSn USers.

Seems normal, mine registers 2 GB of I/O.

There is a lot of overhead in IM, and though I no longer use it,
I don't think that's out of line. Over how long a time period
did you measure?

IM's are constantly checking things and keeping track of things
both on your machine and online, to keep you advised of who's
online, etc etc etc.. IIRC, you can turn on a log of IM's
activities - check the Options. Not sure it was MS's or not
though.

Pop
