hi,
i have just downloaded Microsoft Defender Beta and installed it. well
everything went fine and it got installed and also had a scan.
now the thing is, i already had Microsoft Antispyware installed in my
machine. now, it seems that all the traces of it has gone. its gone even from
my program list in the windows start key. seems that it has supressed my
antispyware.
is it a normal process? can both of these together cant exist????
am confused.
any Idea !!!!!

Windows Defender is the *replacement* for MS Antispyware. When you
installed WD, it uninstalled MSAS. MSAS is dead and gone. For any more
questions or comments about WD, post to one of the newsgroups
specifically set up for this beta program. See this MS webpage for
information about accessing those newsgroups:

As Malked said, Windows Defender is a replacment, basically the next
generation. Based on the same original application aquired from Giant
Software, it has a new user interface, some new tools and some new
features-apparently some ability to also detect keystroke loggers and
rootkits as well as malware.
Thanks,
