Dear Sirs/Ladies:

A "software company" named "Winfixer" is committing the equivalent of
extortion by infecting users PC's with a piece of adware/hijackware, and then
continually popping up screens offering to sell, for $39, a program
named "Winfixer" which claims it is capable of removing the adware
for "only" $39.

If the user doesn't take advantage of the offer, the software then proceeds
to virtually take over his or her PC, continually popping up adware screens
for not only Winfixer, but a variety of adult and commercial site,
including "adultfriendfinder.com," "sexbuddies.com," and even the mighty
giant
t-mobile.com"

The Virus/Adware/Hijackware effectively hijacks your web browser; you click
on one site, and up ops a screen for another. It grows and grows until your
browser
becomes effectively unusuable.

As of today, 11/26, Symantec, Microsoft, McAfee and others have
nothing to effectively remedy this adware/hijackware. Forums on the
Microsoft security site are filled with users begging for help removing
"Winfixer" from
their machines. Some of the "solutions" offered seem to be from the firm
itself, attempting to re-infect user's machines with yet another variant.

This program threatens to be huge, to infect PC's everywhere. It has
multiple "modes" and apparently is capable of re-installing itself
even after you remove it. If you type "winfixer" in Google, it even
is aware of that and pops up another screen offering you their $49
solution.

McAfee and Symantec Antivirus programs don't begin to touch it.

I have successfully defeated virtually every computer virus to come
along, but this one is going to pillage and ransack millions of
consumer's PC's, and wallets as they become desparate for a solution.

One user on a Microsoft Forum has listed the company's phone numbers:
800 755 5909 and 202 904 2212 519 488 5191 Their ability to accept
credit cards needs to be shut down immediately, but I don't know how to
contact Mastercard/Visa. Perhaps you do.

This goes beyond spyware, viruses, trojan horses. It is essentially
extortion, or theft of services.

If it hasn't infected the PC's in the attorney general's offices and homes
YET, it
will. I seem to have "contracted" this adware/hijackware early in
the "wave" that is coming.

This company, since it is taking money and processing credit cards
for a supposed "fix," needs to be charged with SOMETHING and the
authors of this program sent to jail.

Right now, you're probably thinking, "Who is this kook and why is he
bothering the AG's office regarding a silly computer virus." Once you
hear
about it from about 5,000 other Colorado consumer I suspect it will
garner your attention.

Heres is the Link to Report this. Pls take the time to do so.
www.fbi.gov Yes the FBI.....Oh yea
You will see the link to Repoting internet fraud(middle towards the bottom)
I filed a report, It's been only a few days since I've been getting the
pop-ups and It is by far the worst I've ever encountered.I've been
programming PC's for over 10 years, I tried everything, My computer is %1000
percent clean, runs free of all errors,pop-ups,adware,viruses,EXCEPT for the
winfixer pop up!
Again that link is www.fbi.gov
Lets stick it to these criminals.
