Well it seem that my antivirus is responsible for blocking the windows of
gathering my IP Address.... The story goes by installing SP2 of winXP....
When I havent yet installed my antivirus the windows and my lancard
successfully gathers my IP address but when I installed my antivirus software
the problem goes.. First I thought that the problem is my Lan Card but by
doing a little experiment I figure out who the real problem or what is
causing this problem....
Im using a Panda Internet Security 2005 as an AntiVirus Software..
My question is what should I do???
Should I replace my current antivirus or is there another step in solving
this problem of mine.... I hope answering this question should help me and
others who are experiencing the same type of scenario.... Thanks

In all probability Panda Internet Security includes a firewall. XP
Service Pack 2 includes a firewall. You need to turn one of them off.
Depending on your needs, I would probably disable the Windows Firewall
but that is a matter of taste. Refer to Panda's Help files for proper
configuration of their firewall. You don't need to replace anything;
you just need to configure it correctly.

This is (was) known issue with Titanium 2005 but not with Platinum . Well ,
I searched in their i-net support section and there were similar problems .
Reinstall your Platinum. Goto Add/Remove programs in Control Panel ,find
Panda and uninstall it . Reboot . After that , manually delete the folder
"Panda Software" in C:\Program files.

Download the latest version of Platinum 2005 (I belive it is 9.02.02) from
Panda's download sections for clients
http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/Client+Zone/?sitepanda=particulares

After you download it , install it .
Configure it and update it !!!
It is important , really important to do the following during install :
During the install process ,choose *Custom* way of installation . This will
give you the option to NOT install Panda's firewall , so when you are asked
what to install ,uncheck Panda's firewall only !

Then , go ahead with the installation .

Make sure your Windows Firewall is ON with Don't allow exceptions checked .

If this doesn't fix the problem , contact Panda's Tech Support

Regards!
