Hello,

I tried to setup IPSec on the network. We have Windows Server 2003
Enterprise servers. All our workstations are running XP. I set the domain
controller (also does DNS and DHCP) to use Request Security (local policy)
and through global policy, apply Client (Respond Only) IPSec policy onto the
workstations. However, the workstations aren't able to get an IP. It says
connected but with limited connectivity.

When I was doing IPSec tests. I made a policy to request security (on the
domain controller) to my workstation's IP and set Client (Respond Only) on
my workstation. IPSec works that way. I'm not sure what I did wrong with the
implementation. Help!! :)

It's seems like in the first case, the settings on the Dc is not being apply
(might be overwritten by another policies).

1. Use IPSec Monitor to check whether there is a Security Association (SA)
established between the client. If not, they will not be able to talk to each
other using IPSec.

2. Use GP Modelling and Logging from GPMC to determine the winning GPO being
applied to the DC and clients. This will indicates the effective settings of
the IPSec configuration on the machines.

HTH.
