If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Use a sniffer such as www.ethereal.com Especially try sniffing with
encryption enabled and disabled to see if there is a difference.
There may also be a way to require encryption only be used on the client or
server, and configure encryption not to happen on the other side, and see if
it fails.
There's no doubt a SQL newsgroup here that might be in a better position to
answer this.
