This is what I currently use to get rid of ads
I have everything I my computer updated and I try to keep every
updated I have my cookie settings on the highest setting in internet
explorer so then I don't get cookie viruses or some adware from third
party sites. I don't use internet explorer though but any third party
browser is going to still use the guts of IE because it is the way
Windows is set up so having that up to date and secure the more secure
third party browser will be I use Fire Fox with ADblock and Flashblock
the reason why I don't use noscript is because some sites wouldn't
work right in login because it uses java or flash to login you in so
then it's advertisers will be able to send ads in java or flash so I
use flashblock which just replaces the flash or java with a play
button so you don't have to see it.

But is their any way of blocking it from contacting your computer so
it can speed up your internet connection I have heard that putting the
websites of major advertisers in your host file will make your
computer think that those sites are from your computer so then when it
tries to contact it it contacts your computer instead. but does any
body know if that is safe? so any method that you know of is welcome
just as long as it works.
