Hi: I know that XP's sec. center detects an antivirus by checking this:
-That effectively an antivirus exists
-That the signatures of it are up to date
-That real time or on demand scanning are active
-That if there is any security server.

This information was obtained from microsoft, but I didn't find how
technically it's implemented, so I wonder if somebody around here knows how
to do it (I wonder there are some registry keys).

I want to know this because I want to contribute to "Moon Secure Antivirus",
an open source alternative that would become a serious contender for the
commercial antivirus, and currently does a good job but windows s. center
doesn't detect it. Thanks.

If it doesn't detect it then it's time to get a new one!
