Its not that important...but i'm curious..would like to hear some serious
ideas on hard drive destruction if someone other than yourself accesses
your PC. I thought of acid but that would be pretty complicated and wiping
with the Peter Gutman algorythm takes too long... even on a SATA RAID0
10,000 RPR array. I want an immediate wipeout..like fire...based on a wrong
password? Common guys.. you know what im talkin about..

How about a gun mounted on the top of the monitor pointed at the user's
forehead. Three incorrect password attempts and the gun goes off. Problem is
solved,...harddrive remains intact.

Well I know what you're talking about but the real world isn't like star
trek so it isn't as easy as all that.

Couple of things..
- You'd have to go through about 100 to 500 machines to properly test a
system like that.. and since I assume you're trying to do the whole
thing "on the low", we're not talking about a commercial product here...
So hope you've got the bucks..

- A system like that would have to be tested *thoroughly since more
important than working when it should might just be "not working when it
shouldn't"...

- You're essentially talking about a self destruction setup.. so
depending on your choice, prepare for 'trap' lawsuits...

- The only people that would need this type of setup:
1. Hackers.. Watch "the core"... there's a great example of preparation
for you..
2. High-end security personnel.. Odds are they've got all sorts of $$ to
get proper countermeasures set up..
3. Paranoid people... Well, that about says it all right there..
4. People downloading kiddie porn.. Just in case the cops seize their
machine.

Me? I see you falling outside the top two possibilities...

RDX, a small EMP or thermite are the prefered methods...
