Hi,
When I go to "MY NETWORK PLACES>ENTIRE NETWORK>MICROSOFT WINDOWS
NETWORK>DOMAIN" I see quite a few pcs on my network listed there. How can I
avoid those PCs form being listed there. How can I also remove those that are
listed there?

Thanks

Please see this page http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm then post back to
this thread with more-specific information which we would need to assist
properly.

Well, I find your question simple and complete.
As Paul mentions one cannot simply, selectively remove these.
However, one can selectively keep them from showing up, by
adjusting some registry settings one the machine that should not
appear. IIRC one sets Hidden to dword 1 in the registry key
set for Lanmanserver

On computers you do not want shown to anyone you can use the command net
config server /hidden:yes, disable the server service, or disable netbios
over tcp/ip. Net config server /hidden:yes is probably the best option and
could be deployed via a Group Policy startup script. You may want to use the
server service to remotely manage your computers via Computer Management or
command line tools, and disabling netbios over tcp/ip could have
ramifications depending on the applications you use on the network and
makeup of network operating systems though it certainly is a possibility. I
would not however try to hide a domain controller without thorough testing
and that would probably be part of disabling netbios over tcp/ip for the
whole domain if that would work for you which then would leave Active
Directory for locating domain resources. If users are able to access domain
resources that they should not be able to via network browsing then you need
to examine and adjust your share permissions and group memberships, and user
rights for access this computer from the network to reflect priciple of
least privilige. --- Steve
