I've got XP Home SP2. I use Firefox, mainly. I also have Spybot S&D.
My HOSTS file doesn't have anything added to it -- it's just the one
with local host.
How do I set up a hosts file for any browser to use?
Do I need to use Admin Tools and change a DNS services to not be
automatic? (Heard a rumor).
Thanks.

Spybot S&D has a host file option. Check it out...

You don't necessarily need any hosts file at all. Browsers generally work
fine without them.
Some people add a hosts file to block known adware site. The one I use is
at www.mvps.org You can search google for: hosts site:mvps.org
Do note that adding such a hosts file may sometimes slow down your computer.

No, I don't think so.

The SpyBot HOSTS file is chock-full of redundant and old entries!
Safer-Networking have admitted it. Do not use the SpyBot HOSTS file.

What HOSTS file would "my" HOSTS file be, Fishy?

Set your DNS Client to manual or disabled, whichever suits your set-up.
