Your computer was in a domain...
You removed it from this domain, so the domain username/passwords you once
used no longer work.

You must use a LOCAL account on the machine - there had to have been at
least ONE before the machine could have been joined to the domain in
question. That is the username/password you must use now that you removed
it from whatever domain it was a member of.

- Is this your computer or a company computer?
- Why were you trying to "create a workgroup"?
(normally unnecessary - just 'makes things searchable' in an easier way.)
- Assuming the answer to the first question is "Your Computer", did you set
this machine up? What was the username/password you used? Have you tried
"Administrator" with no password at all?
- Who joined it to the domain originally... They know the username/password
(or did) of the local account - unless you/they/others changed it.

And if worse comes to worse:

Hack your password:

The only way you can log in is by using the local admin account & password -
but even this will not 'restore' anything or give you access to your old
domain profile. You need to bring your laptop back to work and ask the
domain admin to rejoin it to the domain. He or she will need to know the
local admin credentials on the laptop.

Note - you don't need to change to a workgroup just to access resources on
it. You shouldn't play with your laptop's network settings at all. Once
you've logged in using your domain account (using cached credentials), and
have an IP address on the home network, you can map drives, use printers,
whatnot, very easily - one way, in a command line:

net use x: \computername\sharename /user:computername\username <enter>
