I am using Eventcombmt to scan the event logs from various computers/servers
on my network. Some are W2x, XP, and Srvr 2003. Some have XP SP! and some
have SP2. Some have the latest Windows updates while others do not.

On about half of them it get the following error message:

Security log on xxxxxx (xxxx = machine name or IP address) was not
available. GetLastError was 1722. Error text was: The RPC server is
unavailable.

I have verified the RPC Services are running on severa test computers, I
have used admin credentials when running the scan, I have used both machine
name, IP address, and have also put the domain name \ and computer name in
but I continue to get the same error message.

Does anyone have any information that they can share on this message and how
to solve the problem?

I solved my own problem after turning on the Server Service on the computers
that were responding with the RPC 1722 error.

I hope this helps the next person.
