Here's a simple fix for the recent Desktop HiJack application (or
Download.Trojan variant) that's been hitting alot of people:
1. Perform a Windows search for "warn.html". Once Windows finds the file,
delete it. Your desktop will flash. Your desktop will appear as a white,
blank background.
2. Go to Control Panel. Open Add/Remove Programs. Under the Add/Remove list,
you will see a program called "Desktop Uninstall". Information on the program
will be blank. Click the Change/Remove button to remove this application.
3. Right-click on your desktop and select Properties. Set your desired
desktop background. No other file deletion or registry fix is required as
long as the core files to this desktop hijack are no longer present on your
machine. You should be straight.
NOTE: This is a simple fix for this desktop hijack. It's not guaranteed to
work. You may have to download HiJackThis, RegVac, or Registry Crawler in
order to completely remove the variant from your machine.
