If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options Uninstall Defender, it is useless anyway. I had the same problem -- ended
up going with lava-soft's Ad-ware SE and SpyBot Search & Destroy since both
are free and both found and fixed problems Defender didn't.
Don't know what is going on with Microsoft these days, everyday I find
myself just shaking my head at the "new" products/tools that just either
don't work/install or have some very obvious problems/bugs. I suspect
they're outsourcing their QA to "offshore" companies and the results of
cheap QA are showing up in just about all Microsoft's products.
