Hi,

We have a strange problem with a PEAP config.
Most of the clients are working correctly, but we have a problem with some
IBM Laptops.
When an IBM laptop tries to connect to the Wifi network, we can see in the
IAS logs that the PC and the user are correctly authentificated BUT the PC
does not receive immediatly an IP address. It has to wait a certain amount of
time, which is not always the same.
Before the PC does receive an IP address, the logon scripts are not working.
It sounds like the PC is waiting before making a DHCP request or like the
DHCP request is dropped somewhere and that the PC wait before sending another
request...

We have no problem with other laptops (DELL, HP,..).

PCs are all WIN XP SP2.
IAS is a on a Win 2003 SP1.
Access points are Cisco 1131AG.

any idea ?

We had similar problem few years ago when using Cisco PCMCIA NICs and Dell
laptops - solved by using MiniPCI NICs instead.

If you really really really need the solution for existing NICs, try the
following:

* Disable IBM/Lenovo NIC and use another one - eliminates problems related
to your NIC configuration
* Unbind _all_ service from the wireless network connectiuon object and
enable one by one, starting with plain TCP/IP. Eliminates the problems
related to the additional service ie 3rd-party 802.1x supplicants
* Place a computer on the same physical subnet with DHCP server

Might be a support case.
