I posted earlier today about a spyware or malware problem and thought I'd
share another observation.

Whenever I first go online and upload something like a search engine query,
I get the familiar windows message box

'Internet Explorer - When you send information to the internet, it might be
possible for others to see that information. Do you want to continue? -
[tickbox] In the future, do not show this message. - Yes No'

Whenever I tick 'yes' to proceed, and the request not to prompt me about
this again is ticked also, my McAfee antispyware monitor alerts me to a
change in internet security zones, and an unwanted popup appears failry
quickly.

My question is, am I seeing a causal connection where there isn't one, and
telling IE 6.0 to upload stuff ALWAYS changes security zones, or could this
indicate something more sinister?

It also strikes me that IE 6.0 never 'learns' that I don't mind the
possibility of others reading my stuff on the web - I used to only get this
message once when I did a fresh OS reinstall. Now this message pops up
every time I first connect to the web.

I suppose it's possible it could be fake, but it sounds real to me. I
wonder if IE is not learning this because McAfee is undoing the change?

If you check the box telling IE to remember this setting, your preference
will be stored in the registry, alongside with the other settings for the
internet zone. Your antispyware is obviously detecting this modification.
