If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Is it possible to take the settings in a GPO and make a template out of
them, which would create the settings in the SDL language? I can and do
import settings, but I don't have the original template and need to go
the other way.

I'm not sure, but you might try posting in
microsoft.public.windows.group_policy for more specific help.

SDL ? Do you mean SDDL ? which is for only some settings.
In general, for local policy the answer is no, there is no magic
look here and stuff it all into a template switch.
