Thanks PA Bear I agree with all you say, but the issue is not here at his
dad's house, it's at his mother's house where he lives. She's not the
brightest person and I'm trying to (politely) get her to child-proof the
computer for when she is not at home. If I had anything to say about the
matter (which I don't), that house would not even have a computer. So
please, any suggestions on this problem would be most greatful.

12-year-old home alone and unsupervised? Place the PC in the dining room,
family room or other communally share room, not in his bedroom?
