If you use Windows XP , do a System Restore. System Restore is a special
finction in Windows XP and Windows ME which allows you restore your system to
a previous state exactly as it was before. If you had installed something
wrong when you restore back you should be fine.

Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore
and restore to a state one or more days before the problem started.

Hello,
I finally had my problem fixed (it seems). I asked an aqcuaintance after I
unsuccessfully tried to do system restore, and he found that all the exe
files had been redirected to open with another extension (.INK or something
like it). Therefore windows could not recognise them (as far as my humble
understanding goes). So he used some program file for registration of
entries (Registry editor) and the problem was settled. I installed on his
recommendation Zone Alarm and AntiVir programs and did a complete scan (1
malware found) which I quarantined. I hope these can provide me with
sufficient protection in the future. I wish to thank You, and everyone giving
me a suggestion, for your advice - if not fixing the problem, I learned about
the first things to do in handling a threat by system restore.
Best regards
