My pc (running Windows XP) was running fine when I shut down last night.

This morning after powering up my PC, there is an Automatic Windows Update
balloon in the icon tray that prompted me to install the latest Windows
update, which I did. Afterward, i can no longer connect to the net unless I
disable my Zonelabs with Anti-Virus firewall.

It never given me any prob until the latest Windows updates. I'm posting
this message with my Zonelabs firewall disabled. What is wrong?

Thanx in advance.

Francis

Start up ZoneAlarm, bring up the management console (double-click the tray
icon), and somewhere in the Options you will find there are settings for
Internet zone and Trusted zone.

Set the Internet zone to Medium security - default is Maximum security,
which prevents the patched XP from getting replies from DNS look-ups.

I have had the same problem on one of our older computers but it doesn't have
Zonelabs on it. We have Norton Anti-Virus on it and it is the only computer
that cannot connect to the Internet (Outlook cannot send or receive email and
no external access is capable, internal network access is not affected in any
way.). I have had to remove the security update in order to make the
Internet work on the computer. Any suggestions?
