Hello,
My system (XP OS) is taking too long to boot. I checked for viruses, run
Spyware (Yahoo) Adaware (from LavaSoft) and it came up clean. I have Norton,
Zone Alarm Pro and Spyware running at startup.
How do I set up XP to load fast ? (I hope I don’t have to re-install)

The problem is the amount of programs loading at start up. Go into each
program that loads at startup and turn off "run at startup". Also go to
start/run and type msconfig<enter> that will bring up the System Config
Utiltiy, click startup and uncheck items not needed. There are some
programs like "Startup Cop" you may want to try.

If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options If this is an AD domain machine, check that DNS use by
the client is correct (the domain's DNS) and if so then
that the DNS records are correct.
Take a look in services.msc and minimize the services that
you have running. If you do not use it and it is not necessary
for the OS to support your usages, then it should not be set
to automatic.
Try using Autoruns from www.sysinternals.com to see what
all is starting at login, etc..
Third-party software throws quite a lot of little used
stuff onto a machine, and at times these from different
vendors can conflict, but even just their load eventually
bogs a system down.
