How do you block software from contacting servers. I know this must be
possible because on one of my computers where I have Norton Internet
Security, I get messages saying that the software is trying to contact a
server and gives me a choice of always allowing, always blocking or manual.
Once I make a choice I don't know how to change my choice, however. On
another computer the Norton version I have (Antivirus) doesn't offer this
option. I assume there must be some way to do this on both computers and a
way to change my choice.

Install a third party software firewall. You are apparently already familiar
with the Norton Personal Firewall, but there are many others, some of them
free. Once you choose one, be sure to thoroughly read the user manual that
comes with it.

I am not familiar with Norton Internet Security but most software firewalls
can block access to an application. I would check the various configuration
menus for application controls or rules and you should see a list of
applications and the opportunity to remove it from the blocked list. I have
found that Zone Alarm [free for personal use] is probably the most user
friendly software firewall and you can easily check the application page to
see what applications are currently blocked or allowed and change the
