For those trying to install AVG 8.0 please follow my suggestions:
I have been beta testing it from the beginning and I have the pro version on
2 computers and the free on 4.

Go into Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall AVG 7.5
You will need to restart your computer.
If you have AVG antispyware 7.5 you will need to back and uninstall this
program
If you have Maccafee Site Advisor you will need to also uninstall this
program too.

1. Pick up AVG 8.0 here:
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

2. Make sure you look on the left side and make sure you only download the
free version.

3. Save the program in your “Downloads” Folder.

4. Once it is saved close the Browser.

5. Navigate to the Download Folder and double click the program.
Give it a few seconds to start. You might see it on the task bar so just
click on it to open.

6. You will see “Welcome to AVG Free Setup” Click Next.

7. “Acceptance Notice”- Click Next

8. “Accept Again”- Click Next

9. “Checking System Status”- Now wait – you will see a blue bar go across
the screen. Once done- Click Next

10. “Select Installation Type” Click Custom then Next

11. “User Name and License” -leave what is there

13. “Destination Folder”- do not change anything

14. “Module Selection”- Put Check Mark:
AVG Free for Windows
Email Scanner
Plug in for MS Office 2000/xp/2003/2007

15. “Email Scanning” Check- Personal Email Scanner Only

16. “AVG Tool Bar”- UNCHECK- Yes I would like to install AVG Security
Center Toolbar. (you are unchecking this because it is very slow and not
completely perfected yet.
11. Click Finish
12. Now you will see it install. Give it a bit of time.
13. When finished it will say “Installation Complete.

14. Once it is complete, it will close then re open.
15. Click NEXT
16. It will come to the Updates Box:
Updates- Once a Day should be checked
Scans- pick a time to scan- you will change this later
Once Done- Click Next
17. You can check the Privacy or not, this is your choice
18. Click Next to get Updates- you will see a green bar go across to get
the updates. Once Done click Next
19. You can Register or not- your choice
20. Click Finish.
