| Do you know *how* that can be done, Jim?
| If it can be done in an email, can it also be done in a newsgroup message?
| (I'm NOT thinking of MS newsgroups, of course!)

It is easily done in HTML. The text labeling a hyperlink can be a faux URL
while the actual
URL is what is used.

Thanks for that Dave. May I assume that this *can* be done in newsgroups as
well as email?

Can you point me in the right direction to learn more?

I have a suspicion that some of the posters, on some newsgroups which I have
been frequenting, might
well be employing such tactics, but it's hard to be certain (well, it is for
me! <g>)

It would depend on the News Client or the capabilities of the poster to manually
enter HTML
comamnds into the body of the post.

Nowe you know why so many insist on "plain text" posts for security reasons.
