I was recently scammed and somehow they sent me something in an email that
redirects me to a fake copy of a legitimate website. How can I find out what
is causing this and eliminate it? Newbie

Sorry , no attachments it just left something that sent me to a phony
duplicate site. www.escrow.com. So when I go to that site it says the domain
is suspended but when i go to that site from my laptop it goes to the
legitimate site. The folks at the legitimate site said I was given a virus to
send me to a fake site. I can't find the virus and want to ensure it didn't
cause any other problems

Hi,

.......www.escrow.com. So when I go to that site it says the domain
is suspended.

More than likely the link that you're seeing in your email,
www.escrow.com, is not the one that's actually being clicked on. You
should be able to view the message source and see where the link is
really pointing to. It's not too hard to make the text in an email show
one thing and actually link to another.

Do you know *how* that can be done, Jim?
If it can be done in an email, can it also be done in a newsgroup message?
(I'm NOT thinking of MS newsgroups, of course!)
