I read about that and hope they restore the site soon . It seems some
hackers feel themselves in grave danger of GMer , their rootkits may not work
with it :-)))))

I'll check into that one.

I've read too many complaints about the Defender program in the
a.p.s. group. I have to pass on that one.

I've heard about that one. I'll probably add it to the list.
I have to download it, and try it out for a few days first.

That is interesting. It says "an advanced rootkit detection
utility." I'll download it, and try it out for a few days. If I
can use it without much of a learning curve, I might add it to
the list.

I hear that a lot. I've been using IE7 on XP without any
trouble, and the IE6 before that. But I know that most experts
frown on IE in general, and recommend other browsers, like
Firefox.

Thanks again for the reply. I developed this "short list" mainly
to email my friends, who are not particularly computer savvy.

Some of the more advanced programs, and techinques, are probably
over their heads, and are probably over mine too.

Ewido is really good :) You should try it

I don't know of IE7 but it creates me problems and nothing else . I will use
IE6 until the last day MS supports it and makes updates for it . I do like
Firefox , too and although Firefox is a little bit heavier than IE , I
personally feel really safe with it while browsing .

By the way , you can also download GMer from the mirrors David gave links to
