Here's an updated short list of popular freeware programs that I use, and
try to keep up to date. Maybe not the best, but they are all free, and none
of my Windows PC's have had any problems or conflicts with using these.

Since my Norton bloatware trial edition is going to expire real soon (I
think tomorrow), I will be in need of a Vista-compatible firewall. I have
the other programs). The Comodo firewall isn't for Vista, as I understand
it.

Will the Vista firewall be good enough to tide me over until the Vista
version of Comodo firewall comes out?

I have three typical desktop PC's and one laptop. Two of the desktops
are running Windows XP sp2, and one is running XP media center. The new
laptop is running Vista. I do use everything I listed on my XP desktop
machines with no problem, but I only use some of them on Vista. I
read on other groups that Vista has problems running quite a few third
party programs or older programs, or is rumored not to need them, like
with the Comodo software firewall. I do know that freeware sites do
list a number of freeware firewalls, like Zone Alarm, that may or may
not work with Vista, and may or may not be necessary with Vista. I
added the "microsoft.public.windows.vista.security" group to the list,
since they probably know the right answers to these questions.
