...or Zonalaram Anti-spyware program contained in ZA's internet security
suite, and Microsoftt's anti-spyware program now called "Windows Defender,"
anybody heard or read any tales of one catching something the other one
missed ?

All the time. If you read here enough you should know that no one program
catches everything.

I second mr.Urban's words.

Both programs has antispyware protection.
What you really need is a firewall and antivirus in real-time and updates.
And about the antispyware with real time ,it depends on you , on your online
activities. If you always practise "Safe Hex" you may not use real-time
antispyware but only Ad-Aware SE or SpyBot S&D to have second opinion on your
spyware/non-viral status.

That's the instance of tales ( I believe you need to try it first before
judging one )
we're as of the moment gathering signatures of some notorious spyware and
malware we have in town. So I would indulge you to try it as well.

Yes, this happens all the time as others have mentioned. That's why I run
three - Spybot, Ad-Aware and MSAS.
