I'm running Avast for Linux and it detected overnight Win32:Agent-QC in
pagefile.sys.
Now I ran the scanner the night before and it didn't detect it, but the
definitions were updated last night before I scanned.

1. Is this a genuine virus/trojan?

2. Can I just move to chest this infected pagefile.sys?

Sorry forgot to say that I've a dual boot system WinXP and Ubuntu, I was
running Avast in Ubuntu when it detected the trojan in the drive with WinXp
in it.

I strongly doubt it is legitimate if it didn't find it or other malware in the
Operating
System and it was just found in the VM swap file.

Thanks David, thought that.

Just as a precaution I went into WinXp System
Properties\Advanced\Performance Settings\Advanced\Change and set "No paging
file", then rebooted.
Once restarted I deleted the pagefile.sys and rebooted again.
Restarted again and Custom set the page file size back to what it was
(754-1512MB).
