Which Virus Scanner is Better for Windows 98se?

I do not want to upgrade to xp or go to mac or Linux at this time.
So do not tell me to upgrade. Thank you.

Which Virus Scanner is Better for Windows 98se?

EAV_Anti virus_Suite Free Version or PCMAV

I think EAV shows false positive to get you to upgrade the paid
version. When I installed it . It said Virus detected with a ????
Not showing the name of the virus. I have avg installed currently.
Yes, I did uninstall it to test out this program. I am looking at
going with PCMAV as long as it will still support windows 98se.

I didn't know which is better on getting updates.

Avast would be your best bet for this requirement.

To this day I've been using Norton Anti Virus version 5.0. I can hook
you up with a copy (ISO format) if you'd like.

btw, I still use 98 SE as well. Glad to see that there are others who
didn't buy into all the XP and Vista hype and decided to go those
routes.

Who wants more bloatware than the law allows? lol

There probably isin't a "best" scanner (for any OS), but if you can
get your hands on it, Norton AntiVirus 2002 is an AV product that you
can activate for free (and keep activating for free every year). Even
though it's 5 years old, it will update itself and obtain the latest
scan engine and virus definition files.

You might not be able to find it on a download torrent - if not try
looking for "Norton System Works 2002".

You can also try Symantec Corporate edition (version 9). It is
probably available on a torrent. It never expires.

I'm going to try to find this version of Norton. I was running the
Win95 ver for a long time, even on 98. Every so often I'd get the
definition updates. They were around 1 gig and I'd be scanning.

I am using AVG right now. It works fine, but I only scan about once a
month, since I am very secure as far as viruses. Everytime I run it,
there is another 18 toi 20 gig upgrade. I am on dialup, and this is
getting real tiring having to spend 2 to 3 hours downloading everytime
I want to scan. All I can assume is that AVG downloads the entire
program each time.
