If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options

'shall I put the disk in'? - you didn't say don't do it though.
I appreciate you are no doubt trying to encourage me to think for myself,
but.....
So if the disk is needed why was that folder put in the C drive.
I did the scan bit in Run.

You indicated a mixed-match. WinXP HE vs. WinXP Pro. If the proper sert of
files is on
the hard disk and the Registry key you edited point to were the i386 folder is
to be found
then it should NOT be requesting the CDROM again. It is doing so becuase it can
NOT find
what it wants. I can only surmise that the WinXP HE vs. WinXP Pro is at the
root of that
message.

I can follow that.
What if I went back to registry and changed it back to D - it would then
look in the WinXP disk - or am I wrong.
OR I have not put that i386 into the C drive properly?

It would specifically look for the i386 folder on the "D:" drive if you changed
the Registry
back to D:\ .
